Introduction

This guide focuses on freely available legal materials on the internet. It was first prepared in the summer of 2012 for the Pre-college program participants at Penn Law but is for any student approaching legal research for the first time - with limited access to paid databases.

Basics of Legal Research

A free online handbook about doing legal research and how to get started using the legal materials that you find is available here.

Two additional resources to help you in locating legal materials are Google and Google Scholar. Check them out!
