"This fall, the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School will welcome Cara McClellan GSE’12 as the founding Director and Associate Practice Professor of the Advocacy for Racial and Civil (ARC) Justice Clinic, the Law School’s newest in-house clinic, which will provide students with hands-on experience working in civil rights litigation and policy advocacy around systemic racism. The ARC Justice Clinic is inspired in part by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous words that 'the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.'"

The fund, announced on June 1, 2021, "will provide financial support to racial justice and anti-racism efforts at the Law School, expanding initiatives to advance racial justice in the classroom, in the community, and in the profession."

"The Dr. Sadie T.M. Alexander Scholarships, established in February of 2021, will be awarded to admitted JD applicants . . . with the greatest potential to honor Dr. Alexander’s legacy of cross-disciplinary, ground-breaking academic achievement and professional success – as well as the resilience and determination evident in her many accomplishments. Given Dr. Alexander’s commitment to advancing racial and economic justice, the Selection Committee seeks applicants who can articulate a desire to focus on these issues throughout their careers."

This course included twelve public "interdisciplinary conversations among leading scholars and practitioners drawn from a wide range of fields. Each conversation will focus on the ways in which institutional racism is deeply embedded in different parts of our economic, political, social, and cultural systems." Panel topics included: Income and Wealth Disparities; Workplace Diversity, Culture, and Leadership; Fair Housing Policies and Practices; Health and Wellness Disparities; Health and Wellness Policies; Incarceration and the Law; Policing and Public Safety; Preschool, Elementary School, and High School; Higher Education; Voice, Representation, and Collective Memory in American Culture; Voice, Representation, and Collective Memory in Mass Media, Digital Media, and Technology; and Voice & Representation in American Politics.
