Where to Find PDFs

Faculty frequently request articles, cases, laws or books in Adobe PDF format, as equivalent to printed material.  In this section are tips on where to find PDFs of many frequently-requested types of material.

Federal Government Materials

Biddle has prepared extensive guides on how to locate PDFs of Federal Cases, Federal Executive Sources, and Federal Legislative Sources.  Additional sources for federal materials in PDF format are suggested below.

Books

Full text of books may be available in digital format, particularly if the book is out of copyright.  The sources below can be searched by title, author and date to identify whether the book being sought can be found online.  Also be sure to search Biddle Catalog  and Franklin to see if an e-book version might be available from Biddle or Van Pelt as a stand-alone title or from within an e-book collection.

Journal Articles

HeinOnline and JSTOR (see below) are two frequently-used sources for journal articles in PDF format.  If the journal you are looking for is not in either database, try searching Catalog Search and Franklin for the journal by title, as it may be available electronically in a different location.
