International Trade Law Research

Researching International Trade Law

This guide is intended to provide researchers with assistance in understanding international trade, particularly as practiced by the United States.  There are a number of treaties and regional trade agreements that have been concluded by the U.S., which has resulted in a body of trade dispute settlement case law.  It is not intended to cover other regional free trade agreements, such as can be found in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and in South America (MERCOSUR).  Some information regarding European Union materials is available at the end of this guide.

The guide provides a list of introductory reading materials, links to commercially developed databases, and links to governmental and intergovernmental bodies that are involved in the creation or administration of trade agreements.
